A number of file managers are available for Linux called dfm, emelFM, Endeavour Mark II etc. But I was not satisfied with them. I was looking for a file manager which is fast and graphically appealing. My search has ended at Xfe. Xfe has been designed by FOX toolkit. FOX is C++ GUI design tool kit and FOX has been SPECIALLY designed to achieve great speed. Xfe is very fast and graphically equivalent with MS-Explorer. Xfe is based on the popular, but discontinued X Win Commander. Below is a single panel and a double panel Xfe.

I use xfileview to open text/ascii; gxedit to edit; Abiword to edit .doc/.abw/.rtf; qiv to open image; Dillo to open web page and amaya to edit web page.
